Boy Meets Girl (Penang Version) Part I

You see here's the deal.

An Art Director draws.
She can draw and draw and draw cutesy little characters you adore.

A Copywriter writes.
She can write and write and write a story without a sight.

Put them two together and Waalah!
Umm... you finally get them right?

:P

Okay okay. No more rhymes.

But you get the idea. :)

Click to enlarge and I assure you there's a TBC to this. :)

Waydup y'all.

They say an idle mind is a dangerous place, yes?

Well, an idle creative mind is probably a strange place to live in.

You see, last week sort of marked the end of a 'holiday buzz' in the office. And when colleagues go off to enjoy themselves, they never forget about us less unfortunate souls who are stuck in the office and before you know it, souvenirs start magically appear on our tables.

Like this packet of Pretz Sticks from umm… Hong Kong?
(or China) from Yen-san for instance.

Well, Pretz Sticks it is no more when it falls into a creative hand.

It becomes the icon of our next ‘Tak nak!’ no smoking campaign.

Quit Smoking. Choose Pretz. :P

Switch it up and it turned into a form of a ‘kavadi’. O_o

Swirl your magic wand and be inspired by Harry Potter.

Cik Datang was right in her element that day, feeling all smartified by the mini Smarties packs from Mr Iduntalkmuch.

Even a packet of seaweed from Korea courtesy of E-News Mama
was left with no mercy.

*sigh*

But the winning shot of the day was not what was in front of the camera
but what’s behind it.

Scary wei!!

WHUAHH!!!

That's WHUAHH!!! with two Hs and three !!!
That's how BIG of a deal this story is about...
and that could very be the shortest title post for Hiyashibeeps.

Could be.

Not sure.

Bad memory.

Very good footing though.

Wait. What's this about anyway?

Oh yes. Here's the story...

*clears throat*

OH MY GOD! You would never believe it! Umm... so... was in a long brainstorming + briefing session till 6.30pm. Oh wait! Did I mention I only had Loh Mee for lunch? Did I know Loh Mee will not last me till dinner? Yes I did. Did I buy extra Indian curry puff as a snack? Yes I did. Did I foresee the meeting to end at 6.30pm? No I did not.

By then I realised perut sudah masuk angin. *sad face* Plus it was the first day of that bloody monthly ritual. So honestly I dunno the awful cramps were coming from gastric pain or menstrual pain. Probably both. Urgh. And after a long absence from your work desk, you'll have people waiting for your return, ready to fire you with all kinds of questions, needs and wants! When all I wanted to do is bend down and hope the pain goes away.

Wait wait! We haven't reached the WHUAHH!!! part yet.
Building the climax here.

So I finally left the office about an hour later and got home another 30 - 45 minutes later. PSP-san aka Gadget Boy dropped me off at the usual spot at the outer road of my house. I stepped out, said bye-bye and lifted my feet up to cross the drain.

AND SUDDENLY...

Stomach cramped!
WHUAH.

I knew I'm not going to make it across.
WHUAH!

I knew I'm not going to make it back either.
WHUAHH!!

And I landed one feet in the longkang on my black heels nonetheless.
WHUAHH!!!

PSP-san hit the breaks five meters away from me. Oh boy! I climbed back up. Stared at the back of his car. Took a breather, crossed the drain and walk towards the house.

All that and my instant thought was
"I should take up Kungfu. I got talent."

o_O

I'm weird that way.

But seriously. Like WHUAHH!!!

Mount tak Mau?

[SCENE 1: 20 minutes before Boss leaves for his meeting with a client]

Cik Datang: Eh... are you done with that? I need to mount that.

Me: *left hand holding the visual, right hand pointing at something else on screen, lost eyes wandering between the two*

Me: Mount lah!

*hands Cik Datang the visual and decides to concentrate on what's on screen*

Cik Datang: Need to mount right?

Me: Mount.

Cik Datang: Sure mount?

Me: Mau mau mau!

*Cik Datang leaves scene to do her 'mounting' duty*

[SCENE 2: Two minutes later...]

Cik Datang: *comes in and stares at me in all seriousness* Dia tak mau.

Me: *stares back* .......

Both burst out laughing.

Here Comes The Outtakes!

Just like every other photoshoot, recording or even filming, there's always that few takes that didn't quite make the cut. No, they're not rejects. They're equally good stuff except they just didn't go with the "main storyline".

So I present to you...

4 Sekawan + 1 Missing One (The Outtakes!)

Outtake 1: Pretty Pink's crush caught on camera!

Outtake 2: Looks like Mr IdunTalkMuch has more than one secret admirer.

HAHAHA.

Who's gonna win his heart?
.
.
.

Outtake 3: And we have a winner!

LOL.

This is good stuff, I tell ya. Good stuff.

4 Sekawan + 1 Missing One

So the studio got a box of new paper samples on Wednesday
and guess what were inside?

Now don't you dare go "Paper samples, duh!"

Of course I know there's paper samples inside. I may be sick the entire week and my brain a bit wonky but I'm pretty sane at this moment when I'm writing this post.

So Yes. Paper Samples.
Paper samples that came in the form of cute masks. And when you have cute masks, it's only right to put them on and be silly, right?

RIGHT!

Cik Datang as Cutie Cloud and me, Pretty Pink.

Our silliness in front of the webcam caught the attention of another.
Gadget Boy as Brownie Bear.

But wait! In came... in came... Yikes. I haven't given a name to this guy yet. Umm... meet the new Art Director, Mr IdunTalkMuch? Well, until I find a better name, let's call him that for now. Mr IdunTalkMuch somehow stole Brownie Bear from Gadget Boy, so the latter had to settle with Silly Star instead.

*click*
There you have it. Silly Star, Brownie Bear, Cutie Cloud and Pretty Pink.
Memorable shot there of the studio gang, minus one.

Yeah. There's a 'missing one' in this picture. Ms Mysterious which has yet to be revealed here, was not around for the day, so that means... we need a regroup! She could probably be Little Lines. Hmm...

Till then!

Olivin & Cubger: The Mini Series (i)

*Click on the image to enlarge*

:)

Note: When we first did this, it was not intended to be converted to a 'comic strip'. Thus I'm just improvising with whatever silly and random shots that we took that day. So... honestly, I have no idea what's going to happen next. HAHAHA!

Horror in the Studio: A KR Production

Question: What happens when you have four crazy creative souls in a room, a leakage on the roof, a horrible stain on the ceiling and a sucky camera phone in hand?

Answer: You get an amateur director, a wannabe moviestar, a lame storyline and two unhelpful crew members.

YES! We actually had two takes for this. HAHAHA... imagine that! Now it makes you wonder what Take One was like. *grins* Mind you this is raw uncut, unedited footage because yeah, like I said earlier, unhelpful crew members. :P

The Walking Talking Typo Detector

So apparently as a copywriter I'm not just responsible for the things I write but am also a walking talking typo detector to everyone in the office.

Situation 1: In the studio discussing about cameras.
Cik Anai was fussing about getting a waterproof camera that allows her to take good shots underwater and the discussion went on behind my back, literally, while I was minding my own business. Then suddenly...

Cik Anai: I heard Olympia is good, too.

Paprik Lover: Yea yea. Olympia is not bad.

*conversation continues*

Me: Huh?
*detecting something is not quite right*

*spins around*

Me: Olympia? Olympus wei! Olympia is College lah.

Cik Anai & Paprik Lover: Oh ya! HAHAHAHA....

Situation 2: On the way to lunch. (the same day)
While in the car, we saw a young Malay girl riding behind her mom on a motorcycle with her tudung flying over her head. As she was attempting to pull her tudung back down...

Ms Easter: See... tak pakai topi keledek.

Me: *again in another huh? moment*
Me: Isn't it topi keledar? Keledek is ubi keledek! POTATOES!

Ms Easter: Oh ya woh. HAHAHAHA...

And mind you such conversations take place on a daily basis. Such as the case of the pirated father. I will never live that down. HAHAHA.

Till next time!

Goodbye Mr Clean Hands :(

A shout-out to Mr Clean Hands who bids us farewell tomorrow. But since I won't be in the office tomorrow, here's a little tribute post to you, dear sir, for all the silliness and memories you have brought to the company.

For your excessive need to wash your hands and an even more excessive need to wipe them dry with layer and layers of tissues enough to kill a little tree. *sigh*

For your nickpicky need to pick your teeth everytime after a meal.

For your OCD need to fold both sides of your sleeves in total symetry.

For your attentiveness to all these unnecessary meticulous details and yet owns a table with the thickest layer of dust in the office.

This post goes out to you, Mr Clean Hands...

...the *cough* Prince *cough* of our... umm.. tin foil.

On a more serious note, you have made quite an appearance here in Hiyashibeeps. Your first beep screen appearance was as the My-Hands-Must-Be-Clean AE. The name was a mouthful and wasn't well received by the audience. Mua therefore decided to revamp the cast and you were Mr Clean Hands in the sequel. But I must say, you finally shined when you showed the world your moves. *grins*

What the beep screen people didn't know was that I got some precious behind-the-scene footage that no one has seen. And in honour of your great graduation from the academy of communication today, I present you.... the epic video! *snickers and runs*

Not sure if I'm gonna get killed for this but at least
I won't be in the office tomorrow.

Till next time Mr Clean Hands!
All the best and yes, you still owe me Chocos!

Banyak Ada Stail Loh!

Gaya betul A.D. ini. Cik Datang namanya.
Orangnya baik lagi mempersona.
Nak makan tak ada 'bip' takpa.
Kan 'kreatif' keistimewaannya.

Kata dia: "Pakai tisu ajelah."
Tak cantik tak mengapa.
Asalkan tak beritahu siapa-siapa.
Tapi maaf sangat, kena post kat blog pulak.

*grins*

The Pirated Father

Apparently four days of holiday kind of took a toll on all of us upon returning to work on Wednesday. Everyone's brain gone a little kaput. LOL.

Mr Cool: So, the one that's working as a manager is his original father is it?

Cik Datang: Ya.

*noticed something isn't quite right here*
Me: Eh, so what? The other one is the pirated father?

*silence*

Cik Datang: HAHAHAHA!

Mr Cool: Then what do you call him then? Real father?

Me: There's a word for it.
*thinks hard*

SEE! Physically present at work but brain not quite 100% there yet.

Mr Cool: What? what?!

Me: Arrgh! What's the word again. *mumbles* genetic... nope...

Cik Datang and Mr Cool continued to laugh and banter over "pirated" and "orginal" fathers. Leaving me on my own in my quest for the 'truth'. Totally not helping. Hmmph! Then finally!

Me: AH! Biological!
*felt like I just won a jackpot there... LOL*

Mr Cool: Oh ya! Biological. That's the word.

Me: Original pulak!
*gives Mr Cool 'the look'*

Everyone: HAHAHAHA...

Video Presento From Mr Clean Hands

And he said: "Okay, Jovin. This is your birthday present."

It just goes to show that it doesn't take lots (money nor effort)
to put a smile on someone's face.
Maybe turning 25 is not that bad after all. Maybe.

*sings* I Know.. I Know... I Know..

Oh I Know!

Got an ex-colleague's wedding invitation earlier this week and the following conversation ensued...

Mr Clean Hands: When is it ah?

Me: It's on a Tuesday.
(in a matter-of-fact kinda voice)

Mr Clean Hands: Oh... so you're going?

Me: Ya! Of course. Why not?

Mr Clean Hands: Well at least it's near.

Me: *blinks* Near to where?
(Note: I live across the sea from this place... not near at all!)

Mr Clean Hands: Near to the office loh.

Me: We're not working on that day lah!

Mr Clean Hands: *confused* Who's not working?

Me: You? Me? Neither of us.
(again in a matter-of-fact kinda voice)

Mr Clean Hands: Eh? WHY?!

and before I could answered...

Mr Clean Hands: Oh... Raya is it? Oh... I wonder if I'll be going anywhere... *thinks*

Me: Even if you do go anywhere, you'll be back here by then. (another matter-of-fact statement)

Mr Clean Hands: Eh?! How you know?
*once again staring at me in surprise*

Me: Well.. we start work on Wednesday. You'll definitely be back by Tuesday night. (answered with a straight face)

Mr Clean Hands: *thinks* Hmm... true!

Me: Hahahaha.. you must be keep thinking "Eh? How she knows ah?"
*finally started to laugh*

Mr Clean Hands: Hahahaha... YALAH!
*also started to laugh*

*grins*

Oh I Know. I always do.

Nursery Rhymes 02: The Edited Version

Woke up way too early for a Saturday today. There are only few good reasons that can make me sacrifice my precious weekend late mornings. FOOD! *grins* Good ole' Dim Sum! Do I even need to declare my love for that sumptuous breakfast?

So it was no surprise that sis went crawling back to bed around noon. (-_-);; I myself am not a nappy-person. Never was since young. Mom didn't raised me to take afternoon naps. No after-school-naps. No snoozes. Nothing.

Mom's theory: After at night cannot sleep how?!

HOW?!?

But somehow my sis got away with it. Hmm... was I too much of a good girl? *puts on her most innocent look* So there she was on her bed getting ready for a nap when the quirky me took over with a sing-song-voice...

Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?
Sister Jan, Sister Jan?

And she began to stir a little, fidgetting on her bed as I continue...

Afternoon bells are ringing! afternoon bells are ringing!
Tit tit tit tit tit, tit tit tit tit tit.
*last line to be sung to the tune of the basic Nokia SMS beep*

And it was SPOT-ON!
She broke into laughter!

Sis: HAHAHAHAHAAHA!

And mind you, she's pretty proud of her quirky elder sister.
Right Jan?

On a side note: "Brother John" is originally a French nursery melody called "Frère Jacques".

One and a Half Freaking White Hair!

And this is not the first time I've been caught "aging". It's pretty depressing actually if you think about it but! BUT! Positive Thinking my friend. It's all in the mind. White Wisdom I'll call it. *roll her eyes* Yeah right.

Cik Datang: Woah, you got white hair!

Me: *groans* Oh no... not again..

Cik Datang: Eh wait, got two. I think got two... or one and a half. The other one macam not very sure.

Me: Wait wait... the hair root is on the left or right side of the head?

Cik Datang: *pokes a finger on my head* HERE!

Me: In the middle? Hahahaha... that just proved I use an equal amount of my life brain and right brain. *beams*

Cik Datang: Hahaha... I guess.

*******

Articulate Imagination. How about that?

And he shouted 'Sea views are meant to be free!'

Raw and unedited. I wonder if they'll hunt me down for this.
*thinks she should start running*

p.s. Updating via phone so ignore sucky formatting.
p.p.s. Edited on 13 June 2009.
