A Day Late is Never Too Late

Yesterday was our one year 'anniversary'. Can you believe it has been one whole year
since Cik Anai and I set foot in London? That's like 365 days!

 Waaaait a minute!!

It's 366 since this year is a leap year.

Cis Cis!

Before you go all roll eyes on me, I stand to defend that I take every
memorable moment in life seriously. I remembered when it was a year right
after Cubbie and I went to Japan. We texted each other with messages
like "Can you believe it's been a year?" followed by a lot of
"Oh my god, I want to go again!" and "I miss Japan!"

So yeah. It's been a year since our crazy adventure or as I prefer to put it,
a year since Cik Anai wet her pants. XD

Good times my friend. Good times.

Meet My Oldest Friend

I knew him since day one.
He was right beside me even when I was still in my stroller with
my pacifier in my mouth. I bet I even offered my pacifier to him but obviously
he's so not interested... in the pacifier of course.
Because I was pretty sure he was very much interested in me.
Since he kept telling me to hug him.
Though obviously I was clueless since I had no ideas what are words back then.
I mean, I barely managed "papa" at that age.
And nope, I'm not talking about my dad here.

.
.
.

I'm talking about my Hug-Your-Bear.

A bear as old as me and probably the only bear that has no given name.
(I called the one on the right "Patches". He's also the youngest bear I own.)

Well, I had Hug-Your-Bear when I was still a baby.
I'm pretty sure I was not knowledgeable enough back then to give him a name.
All mom did was kept telling me to "Hug you bear, Jo! Hug you bear."

*hugs*

27 years later and he's still here with me.
And honestly, I probably love him more today
then I was when I was a baby, kid, teenager, etc.
It's pretty awesome don't you think?
To still have your very first bear with you.

*hearts*

I think it's awesome.

Out With The Old And In With The New!

That's exactly what one should do to greet the new year.
And that's exactly what we did at home.

.
.
.

Our old, worn and humble sofa that has served us not that well for many years.
If you think this is just a sad sight to behold, you will be glad to know that I have decided against posting the three-seater one. Hahaha. After editing the photo, I feel a tad bit embarrassed over it. So nope, not posting that up.

So the story begun months ago when mom finally urged dad to
"For god sake, buy a new sofa set!".

It was decided then that a new sofa we shall get except all of us kind of procrastinated
till the max. So there was no sight of a new sofa set for another few months until...
OMG! It's December! Hahaha. And finally, dad gave himself a deadline to get a new sofa set before the new year.

Three weeks ago, we finally stop sitting on the job and instead sat on what was going to be our new sofa set. It was told that a newly manufactured one will be delivered to us in two weeks time. So we waited. And waited. And then we called. "Where on earth is our sofa?"
And then we complained. And then to cut the story short.

It finally came yesterday night.
Delivered at 8.30pm at night yo!

Hooray! New sofa in sight.

New sofa trying to make its way through the doors.

New sofa landed safely into the living room.

New sofa gets an unofficial opening ceremony.

TADAAAA!!
Brand new pretty, comfy, 'luxurious' sofa. :)

Good bye poor old stuffy sofa. :(

And now I can finally show you our three-seater sofa.
Pretty right? Hahaha. Maybe a tad too pretty for everything else in our living room.

*shrugs*

Oh well. It's a beautiful start.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Just Because...

This stuff amuses me a lot lot.
And more often than not, it also pawns over the stuff we listen to these days.

Who's Your Favourite Sesame Street Character?

Elmo: "Elmo wrote his own song!"

Big Bird: "Really? What's it called?"

Elmo: "Elmo's Song."

*cue Aww...*

Awwwww..... How much more adorable can he get?

"This is the song... la la la la... Elmo's song..."

It's Alive!

One and a half month into the new year and I finally got my first post up. (which now has turned to the second post, no thanks to the unofficial first post here *frowns*) Woot woot. I so fail at blogging. Then again, there was really nothing much to blog about in January. It was all about cleaning, cleaning and well, more cleaning. Oh! But I did capture some good old memories while cleaning.

A handmade card from sis back when she was... umm still unable to spell correctly.

"So I going to say tank for or the love and the thing that you tot me. Say everytime you and your big mouth owes tal daddy what I do. So I stal love you. So I going to wise you a Merry Christmas."

AWWWW!!

"Oh sis, let me tal you, I wil owes love you too!"

And then I found this! Dominos missed me!

Double AWWWW......

Who says cleaning is a chore? Okay, maybe it is but it's also sentimental when you go digging out old stuff like these in the midst of all that cleaning.

BUT
BUT
BUT!

When you are forced to get rid of stuff, that's when cleaning becomes a pain in the... heart! *ouch* T__T

No more VCR player and bye bye video tapes.

More Awwwwwwwwwww!

My Slam Dunk series! Almost all 93 episodes of it recorded in these tapes. So I might never get to watch them through these tapes again. Yes I can get digital formats of these. But nothing brings back memories than these old dusty tapes. *sobs* And so I kept half of them. =P Hahaha... it's a give-take win-win situation. Dad get his additional drawer space, I get my memories. Or at least half of them. Boo!

Slam Dunk was/is my epic anime aka teenage memory. I had wet eyes watching the last episode. I mean come on, who cry over an anime about basketball? Me. *blushes* But then again it was my love for Slam Dunk that got me into exploring the world wide web, which led me to learn about creating a fan site and thus, I gained basic knowledge of html way before I left school for college. Hah! That's how significant the series is to me. And yes, I do own the complete set of manga, too. And a 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle, a big cloth poster hanging behind the door and cute little miniature model of the players. And and, stickers and and... poker cards! Woot?! Hahaha...

They might all be covered with a layer of dust now but these are memories. My memories. Boy do I feel nostalgic.

I am thankful. I am proud.

One year ago. On this exact date.
I was on the plane. Flying high.
Fulfilling a dream. Together with my best friend.

One year now. I look back.
I think about it. And a smile emerges.
Yet there's a little wetness in my eyes.
It's silly to want to smile and cry at the same time.
But it's also probably one of the most awesome feeling in the world.

I am thankful. I am proud.

And I want more.

Nursery Rhymes 02: The Edited Version

Woke up way too early for a Saturday today. There are only few good reasons that can make me sacrifice my precious weekend late mornings. FOOD! *grins* Good ole' Dim Sum! Do I even need to declare my love for that sumptuous breakfast?

So it was no surprise that sis went crawling back to bed around noon. (-_-);; I myself am not a nappy-person. Never was since young. Mom didn't raised me to take afternoon naps. No after-school-naps. No snoozes. Nothing.

Mom's theory: After at night cannot sleep how?!

HOW?!?

But somehow my sis got away with it. Hmm... was I too much of a good girl? *puts on her most innocent look* So there she was on her bed getting ready for a nap when the quirky me took over with a sing-song-voice...

Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping?
Sister Jan, Sister Jan?

And she began to stir a little, fidgetting on her bed as I continue...

Afternoon bells are ringing! afternoon bells are ringing!
Tit tit tit tit tit, tit tit tit tit tit.
*last line to be sung to the tune of the basic Nokia SMS beep*

And it was SPOT-ON!
She broke into laughter!

Sis: HAHAHAHAHAAHA!

And mind you, she's pretty proud of her quirky elder sister.
Right Jan?

On a side note: "Brother John" is originally a French nursery melody called "Frère Jacques".

Nursery Rhymes 01: The forgotten words

Remember Hey diddle diddle?
Remember which animal had the fiddle?
Oh, and what did the cow do to the moon!
It's no wonder the little dog laughed.
And oh my god, the dish ran away with the spoon?
At the age of 6, we were indirectly taught of the idea of "eloping"?

Oh how I miss forgotten nursery rhymes.

Me Time

It's been awhile since I had a "Me Time" in the morning at the office. Just that 10 minutes of being alone with my music on, my head resting on my water tumbler, casually surfing the internet, taking a breather before the day's work starts coming in.

This morning just reminded me how I miss that
therapeutic 10 minutes.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate having someone to travel to and back from work with. Yes, it's safer, it's assuring and for that I am thankful to PSP-san. Yet, I don't mind having these occasional days where I have to go to work alone. Nope. Don't mind it at all.
