My-Everyday-Groupon-Deals ;)

Have you hopped on the online coupon deals bandwagon yet? I did. Yeah yeah. Before you start rolling your eyes and say "Now only hop, outdated already lah!" I will tell you that... that is so true! Hahaha.

I'm always a step slower than the rest in keeping up with the latest "in" things. Not that I'm not aware of it, it's just that I don't hop right on it. Get it? I always tread with caution. I don't just hop on the first bandwagon that passes by. I make sure a few bandwagons went ahead of me, reached the destinations safely, all hypothesis supported with proof and evidence, etc, only then do I hop on the next good bandwagon that comes my way.

Except I kinda plunged right in too deep and managed to get
myself addicted to the entire thing now. *frowns*

Now now, if you think I'm on my way spending my ka-chings away on cheap but unnecessary spending than you are very wrong. In fact, I have only made five purchases so far (since late August) and one of them was not even bought by me. I just paid for it. It was a lunch deal that the entire office gang bought together and enjoyed together. Hah!

My first two purchases were for a Photobook deal and one of them was even bought as a gift to dear Cubbie. So that left two minor purchases that cost barely RM10 and RM12 each. See, I am no big spender.

So why call myself an addict then?

Well, I'm not addicted to the act of buying, I'm addicted to the act of window shopping. LOL. Or is it call 'browser shopping' instead? It has somehow became a routine for me to check these online deal sites out every night. And that my dear friends, is very dangerous. Seriously, you are tempted to buy things you never thought of buying.

So be warned: Lots of discipline is needed when venturing into
the oh-so-very-convenient world of online shopping.

Side Notes!!
Between the three sites that I frequent: Groupon, Everyday and Milkadeal, my preference leans towards Groupon simply because I am a girl and I like things pretty. =P Did I just make myself sound shallow right there? Hahaha. Seriously though, I'm talking about the web design and presentation. Everyday and Milkadeal just don't do it for me. I know at the end of the day, it's about how good are the deals offered but it sure doesn't hurt to be pretty at the same time, right?

What Do You Call Pandan in English?

Or is Pandan English?

*googles*

Oh. They are indeed called Pandan Leaves.

Sometimes I hate the convenience of googling for answers. And the fact that the word 'google' has turned into a verb. It makes life too easy, knowledge less appreciated. *sigh* Which reminds me of an exchange I read in one of the livejournal communities I've joined. If you were the ones who utter these words, understand that I mean well and in no way being disrespectful. It is truly something that worth our two cents to think about.

"What did we do before the internet.
Before google and wikipedia and imdb and YT etc etc.
Just sit around confused and feeling stupid?"
-Unknown

I guess she's right in that sense. Knowledge is now out there for everyone. If anything else, we should be pretty empowered by the Internet these days. But let us not make it less meaningful just because it's easy.

* * * * * * * *

On a different note. This post started out with me wanting to tell you guys I made
'Pandan Chicken' today. Except I kind of wondered off topic as I typed my post.
That's the beauty of it, isn't it?

Eleven pieces of Pandan Chicken with a tinge too much curry powder.
Nonetheless, pretty good for a first try.

What a weird post this turned out to be.

The Impromptu Holiday Series: In Which Size Does Not Matter...

... and relevance prevails!

There's a huge LED screen in front of me and yet I chose to stare at this smaller one for almost the entire day.

What does that say about me?

A. Big and huge do not impress me. *cough*
B. I see technology as a trend that comes today, gone tomorrow.
C. I paiseh use other people's stuff and prefer to stick to my own.
D. All of the above.

.
.
.

Answer: E. None of the above.
Because, obviously I need to enrol myself into an Internet addiction programme.

*sigh*

An Internet Connection That I Would Die For

or an Internet Connection That I Would Kill For?

Either way works.

Day 2 of impromptu 'holiday' and things are certainly picking up.

Lame pun is lame.

:P

1 Down 3 to Go

What's with the sucky internet connection? My video uploads kept on failing. I finally just got one video up on youtube. Direct video upload via blogger is not happening for me. Why Blogger? Why?
It's gonna take awhile till you see my next long post, with videos.

I Have a Confession!

I have a big problem of throwing away stuff.
I have a big problem of hitting the "Delete" button.
I don't think I grasp the idea of "giving it up".

No Siree.

I have over 880 favourites in my browser!

881 to be exact. How awesome is that?

Says here folder was created in January 2009 right? That was the date I last formatted my notebook. Hahaha... I literally moved the folder to another drive whenever I format the computer and move it back again after that. Last check, I have favourite links dated back as old as 2004. *silly grins* There are dead links in there as well. Some of the webbies and fandoms that I used to visit on a daily basis back have gone inactive.

I favourite links cause I visit them on a daily basis. I favourite links cause I love what I just read and just in case I ever want to read them again. Besides, a good read deserves a second read yes? Though it rarely happens. *frowns* Cause good stuff just keep on coming on the world wide web.

And I never delete them because well...
"You never know... just in case."

I confess. I am addicted to the "Favourites" button.

All Hail Technology!

It was just the other day where Easter Bunny was doing her assignment on "computer and the internet" and she asked:

"What is Information Age to you?"

Got my own answer that same night.

This!

My First Time...

...buying clothes online.

XD

Not my first online purchase though.

Had doubts buying clothes online since there's this "No Trying" policy. Obviously. Ain't got no model-like body that fits any clothes either. So even after I was introduced to various shopping blogs by dearest Ching more than half a year ago, only now did I kick-start my first purchase.

Simply because I love it oh so much.

Efficient as always.
You may disagree but poslaju has never failed me till now.

Paid on Monday.
Sent on Tuesday.
Received on Wednesday.

Talk about efficiency.
Credit goes out to Lynn from Fashion-Loft.

Jeng Jeng Jeng!
This shot ain't pretty.
Simply don't do justice to the pretty piece.

This is a much prettier shot.
*gets whacked for her narcissim*
I'm talking about the dress/pinafore okay?
*innocent*
I did attempt to take a picture of the back but it didn't turn out good and I was lazy to keep taking pictures of myself. Am not that narcissistic.

All in all, I must say I really like it.

Now if only I got a pair of good shoes to go with it.

The name's Tan. Ah Tan!

Hah! So the "25 Things About..." tag went spreading all around the world and back to my teenhood friends: one being the Ah Tan I have always known to be, though now more widely known as Duncan. In one of his 25s, he mentioned how people used to call him Ah Tan before our Uni days.

My response? I figure saying "You'll always be Ah Tan to me." just sounds way *cough cough* hahaha... so I opted for a simple ...
"And I still call you Ah Tan."

I believe the message got across nicely as Ah Tan replied
"Jovin: Yes, and I appreciate it."

*smiles*

More than that, the thought of Ah Tan brought back memories of conversation at home. Since Tan is a common Chinese surname, it's no surprise my younger sister also has a friend named Ah Tan. -.-;; and such conversation seem to happen quite often at home back then...

Mum: Eh, so what is Ah Tan doing now? / Eh, last time Ah Tan... /
I thought Ah Tan... *basically you get the idea*

Me and Sis: *stares at mummy dearest* Which Ah Tan?

Mum: *points to a random one* Your Ah Tan.

Me or sis: Ehhhh?? Ah Tan is not mine!

HAHAHA... it's silly but it's always funny everytime that happens. That rarely happens nowadays since both Ah Tans are now far away from home.

Awww... since it's so nostalgic, I really might as well...

"No worries. You'll aways be Ah Tan to me."

*gelinya*

HAHAHA

Of Internet and Crows

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

ABOUT CROWS
by John Ciardi

The old crow is getting slow;
the young crow is not.
Of what the young crow does not know,
the old crow knows a lot.

At knowing things, the old crow is still
the young crow’s master.
What does the old crow not know?
How to go faster.

The young crow flies above, below, and rings
around the slow old crow.
What does the fast young crow not know?
WHERE TO GO.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stumbled upon this while surfing for web 2.0 in the office. Loved it! *hearts* In fact, I hearts it so much that even the lazy me is determined to "pen" this down to remember it in the future.

Oh! And in case you're interested, I read this here:
Moving Towards Web 2.0 in K-12 Education

Though you got to read till way down to get to the good part. Then again, you can just skip and scroll. But I'll say that's knowledge goes to waste, such a shame. In other words, R-E-A-D!

An Innit Blooper?

I don't believe I'm the first one to find out about this 'cause I'm sure not the person to stalk or even post an entry frequent enough on innit to qualify for this discovery. ^^;; So maybe someone did pointed this out and I missed it due to the same reason as above. If that is true, I apologised beforehand.

I for once have a free Sunday today, thanks to Ms Monday being an off day. So I went innit surfing. I clicked the next button a few times in attempt to find a post that strikes my fancy, and then I realised I'm at page 26? o__O But I only clicked the button, like three times at most! Of cause lah, I suspect something is wrong here.

So I start all over again.

*suspect suspect*

I clicked Next>

WA-LAH! I'm at page 16!

*suspect suspect*

Again, I clicked Next>

*blink blink*

Page 26 pulak?

o__O

I pretty much guess where another Next> will lead me to, so I head the other way.

I clicked clicked Prev two times and see if I'm back at page 1.

Ehh?? Page 6 pulak!

It's not just me right? Tell me it's not just me?

Attention Innit, I think we got a problem here!

The Punishment For Being Lazy

I met Chisa-san last year through the net. She wanted to improve her English and me my Japanese. Mails come through very slowly for us because it takes time interpreting each other. We try our best to write in the language foreign to us and correct each other a lot since well, we both kinda suck at the language we're learning. HAHAHA. Then one day, the mailing stop. We didn't hear from each other for a few months.

Last week, I got a mail about an update from the site and was reminded of this Japanese friend. So, I took the "initiative" to say hello. I put quotes over the word "initiative" because I was lazy and wrote the entire mail in English.

Thought 100%. Effort 50%. My bad.

Why? Well, I got a reply a few days later.

TAADA!

A lengthy mail in full Japanese, minus that one line. -.-;; Now, it's hard enough to interpret a language that you only have survival knowledge about. It's even harded when Chisa-san resides in Osaka, Japan. It's not only Japanese, it's Japanese with a strong Osaka Ben, else known as a well-known dialect. Hahaha. Well, a friend gotta do what a friend gotta do. Luckily, the internet is very veeeery helpful these days.

With babelfish on and my dictionary all set, I'm equipped!

Now wish me luck!

ps: Dear Chisa, I might take awhile to reply. ^^;;

I'm edited!

やばい. This is not good.

**************

Hiyashi: I want Hataraki Man song.
Cubbie: Apa tu??
Hiyashi: You got imeem? *provides link*
Cubbie: *after listening* SWT! This one!
Hiyashi: Hahaha.. yaa. I'm edited. *totally oblivious*
Cubbie: Apa nih? Edited???
Hiyashi: *OMG* Addicted!

*silence*

Hiyashi: I think not addicted to the song. More like addicted to my work. -.-;;

**************
Inilah Buktinya!

To be more technically correct, I think I'm addicted to edit. -.-

*write write write*

*read read read*

Urgh.

*edit edit edit*

It's a my life-living process.

************

On another note, I'm starting to worry for myself. First I delete my hair, then I edit myself. I'm starting to believe I might not be "very alright" after all. @__@

Note: Hataraki Man is being played now. Enjoy! *snickers*

And The Doctor Says...

"You're gonna drill a hole on her skull."

Suspense leh Suspense.

First Watch This.

*Sadly I have to remove the video because I think there's some error in the script that's giving me problems. Hmmm... *
Instead, you can click here to view the very awesome clip. =)

Now repeat after me.

AWESOME!

Yes, my weekly dose of Dr House is back. Yes, this episode was aired after the Superbowl. Yes it was yesterday or probably this morning if you're living by Malaysian time. Yes, therefore the episode is now floating around the internet.

Now Go Watch.

Enjoy.

There's Always a First

It's true. There's always a first time for everything. Some of you might think "Hah. Silly gal making a fuss over such a thing." But I got my first "nang" yesterday. I don't usually post every blog entry I write to innit because I doubt what I write really interest anybody. =.=;;

But at times I find what I write fairly relatable. ^^;; And thus, wish to share. Never have I got a nang before. So it's a biggy deal when I got one yesterday thanks to my interesting discovery about something on innit.

And thus, that calls for a screencap. *grins*

I went to bed with a little achievement of 3 nangs and had a good night sleep. But when I woke up...

*blink once*

*blink twice*

OMGawd. Interesting innit? got itself to the most popular list of the day. Wow. My short hours of fame. *turns bright red* *blush blush* But silly bloggy me was very very pleased. So pleased I couldn't help to announce my little first achievement on the blogosphere.

Hiyashi to family: I got myself in the recent most popular entry on innit.

Parents: Innit?

Hiyashi: *explains what is it about* Remember nuffnang? Well innit is... blah blah blah...

Sister: So what was your post about? *everyone looked at me*

Hiyashi: Well, it's about a funny word I stumble upon during a identity verification thingy. *goes on to explain the entry*

Everyone: *stares* ???

Hiyashi: Ah. Never mind. -.-;;

So I guess, it's bloggers who understand bloggers well. *shrugs* I'm just glad people found my little discovery interesting. And by the time I post this entry up, my 24 hours of fame would probably be over. :) Oh well, all well that ends well. I see it as a good sign for the coming new year. hehehe...

Interesting innit?

You know when we post stuff on the internet, at times we reach this identity verification thingy. Yup, happens at innit too. Unlike many others which features random letters and numbers, innit gives you very indifferent words to type. Heh. Have no idea how they are generated but here's one that perked my interest the other day.

construction Weiss?

*blinks*

And so I do what I always do when I need to know stuff fast, quick and efficient.

I googled.

And TAA-DA!

An actual construction company in Detroit! Interesting.

Isn't it fun to learn something new everyday. Even though the knowledge is not necessary a very useful one. Hahaha. Knowledge is knowledge however small. Now I wonder what interesting words I'll get when I post this entry up on innit today.

Hmm....
