The name's Tan. Ah Tan!

Hah! So the "25 Things About..." tag went spreading all around the world and back to my teenhood friends: one being the Ah Tan I have always known to be, though now more widely known as Duncan. In one of his 25s, he mentioned how people used to call him Ah Tan before our Uni days.

My response? I figure saying "You'll always be Ah Tan to me." just sounds way *cough cough* hahaha... so I opted for a simple ...

"And I still call you Ah Tan."

I believe the message got across nicely as Ah Tan replied

"Jovin: Yes, and I appreciate it."

*smiles*

More than that, the thought of Ah Tan brought back memories of conversation at home. Since Tan is a common Chinese surname, it's no surprise my younger sister also has a friend named Ah Tan. -.-;; and such conversation seem to happen quite often at home back then...


Mum: Eh, so what is Ah Tan doing now? / Eh, last time Ah Tan... /

I thought Ah Tan... *basically you get the idea*

Me and Sis: *stares at mummy dearest* Which Ah Tan?

Mum: *points to a random one* Your Ah Tan.

Me or sis: Ehhhh?? Ah Tan is not mine!


HAHAHA... it's silly but it's always funny everytime that happens. That rarely happens nowadays since both Ah Tans are now far away from home.

Awww... since it's so nostalgic, I really might as well...

"No worries. You'll aways be Ah Tan to me."

25 Most Random Things About Meh...

1. Rushing to see the world, I was born few weeks early from schedule as a small baby that weight lighter than the average baby at a mere 2.3kg. -__-;;

2. I got beatings from my mom and was later lock out of from the house because I refused to go to school during lower primary. Me? Skipping school? *shocked* Well, I was already in my uniform when I remembered I forgot to do my homework and was so scared of getting punished that I refused to go to school. Which in return got myself punished at home even before I got to school. ^^;; It's really silly when I think back about it. I was left crying outside when driver uncle came pick me up to school.

3. When I was small, my neighbourhood kids were all boys. About three doors down was the only boy closer to my age and I used to play at his house. I fell down from standing at the arm rest of the sofa while playing Superman with him.

4. The boy I played Superman with was my first crush. *LOL*

5. My first published work was in a school newsletter when I was in Form One.

6. Grew up reading Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mystery stories, I wrote my own short mystery story when I was 14, sent it for a competition but got no news after that. =( The story was written in an exercise book and the young naive me didn't know how to make photocopies of it and thus I no longer have it with me. *sad*

7. My first prize winning piece came a year after that when I wrote the history of a temple donated by my great-grandfather. It was also the first time my name appeared in the newspaper. I won myself a thick encyclopedia on world history o.O'' hahaha.. and a watch from the Star.

8. I was named Jovin after a friend of my mom. So I knew of another Jovin but I call her "aunty". XD

9. I started wearing glass when I was 11 years old.

10. Thanks to my dad and weekly Sunday oldies on radio, my first ever idol was Cliff Richard. My first ever cassette album was his 25 years greatest hits. *embarassed*

11.I transfered school when I was 10 and the boy who sat beside me, his first greeting to me was "Can I borrow your eraser?" -__-;;Years after that when we were in uni, I told him about it and he totally don't remember about it. Boys! *roll eyes*

12. I used to cry whenever I think about me dying one day.

13. When I was in secondary school, I had a best friend I didn't know about. Funny.

14. Instead I was no.2 best friend to my no.1 best friend and her no.1 best friend was my no.2 best friend. It's complicated but it was a relationship agreed upon. Hahaha..

15. I was a Slam Dunk fan and am still a Slam Dunk fan. It's simply amazing too, that I still watch this anime every weekend now. It's even more amazing that it's still on air after all these years. Yes, it's that great. You must watch! I have watched it in cantonese, malay, english and japanese. hahaha..

16.I was the treasurer of the Ping Pong club back in school. No, I don't play ping pong. *shrugs* Well, not really.

17. I have very small hands. Yes. Small.

18. I'm loosing ideas on what to write right now.

19. I knew about the job copywriter when I was eighteen from a fellow Slam Dunk fan. She didn't like the work but I thought it as a dream job.

20. I got a Nakamaru Uchiwa in my room. Hahahaha...

21. I get stressed up whenever I drive in which I avoid doing it as much as I can.

22. I like being alone when I'm indoors but enjoys company when I'm outdoors.

23. I once sat on a trishsaw owned by a friend. He peddled me and another friend around and we giggled as other residents stared at us.

24. I sleep with a pillow under my head, another under my leg and one on my chest <-- that's the pillow I hug. Oh, my bolster is left aside to prevent my limps from hitting the wall and waking up with blue black all over. XD

25. I tell others I have somewhat of a telepathy power as I often get to read minds but the truth is I tend to know stuff simply because I analyse stuff well.

Went visiting. Waffles and scones were served instead of cookies and common sweet delights. Again don't get me wrong, they were yummy.

A Japanese Summer: Chapter Two (iii)

So after breakfast, we left our little cosy homestay and head off to the Zoo. The trip to the zoo was a last minute plan that we decided the day before after spotting posters and cute polar bear biscuits sold around the train station.

It was because of this that we got the chance to ride the bus.

Yup. In comparison to the fast pace bullet train and subways, etc, the bus was a ride that takes you back to the old-fashion way of doing stuff. So what's the difference with the bus system in Japan? For one, we board the bus from the rear door and exit through the front door. Hah! But this is also dependent on the area you are. Generally it works this way everywhere in Japan except in Tokyo, I think. And we only pay the bus fare when we were about to get off the bus. There is an informative digital board in front telling you how much your ride will cost and since our stop was the last, it was pretty easy to guess how much ours were.

And so we arrived

to Asahiyama Zoo

Right at the entrance! There we were taking each other's picture one at a time. The dilemma! When two kind Japanese ladies offered to help us out. *click* And in return, we help them take a picture of them together, too. Hey, you scratch our back we scratch yours. Thank you!

I assure you there's more to this post than animals. *smiles*

One of the two best attraction of the zoo. Being up north in Hokkaido, it's the best place to have penguins around and this is one pretty fellow don't you think?

Isn't this just totally kawaii?? It's summer so I guess it's pretty hot for the penguins. Nothing beats a cool bath in the middle of a hot day, neh?

In fact, it was so hot that all the animals in the zoo were pretty much lazing around. -.-;;

Except for maybe this guy? Hahaha..

And I caught some arse-scratching action followed by making out session on video. I must say, I think I got potential for Animal Planet! XD

While we were at the monkey section, there was an announcement going on about a show and the crowd was shuffling in. Of course we were just as eagered, so we went over and keh poh. Mana tau the great performance all the Japanese were waiting for was Orang Utan!!

Vin & Cub: *in unison* Ceh!

HAHAHAHA!

And we walked off. Time is precious! Precious!

The rest area was located up a little hill. Yup, you choose to either walk up the slope or queue for the shuttle ride. We queued, along with all the obachans and ojichans. *embarassed* But at least we stand throughout the journey up and let the seats all filled by the elders. Come on, we got another whole week of walking, we could do without the hill climbing right now.

We got lunch up there. Dearest Mogmog lunch box.

Someone tell me why the word "terrace" is there?

*shrugs*

Inside of Mogmog. We got 2 Onigiri (Rice Balls), 2 Ebi Tempura (Prawn), Chikin (Chicken), Tamago (Eggy) and Umeboshi (sour plum that we both left untouched XD).

Oh ya, we ate out on the bench somewhere in the middle of the little hill. The trees were pretty there. Kinda autumn-ish feel neh?

Oh, here we were in the interaction area, a place meant for little kids to play with the animals. The duckies here were one-of-a-kind, they laughed at you. HAHAHA... it's really amazing as you watch little kids trying to touch the ducks and in return the ducks splash water all over and laugh right back at you with a "hak hak hak" kinda laugh. Whoever said duckies go Quack obviously haven't met Asahiyama Duckies!

That's because the biggest shopping complexes are usually connected to all the main train station. And Sapporo Station has lots of hustle and bustle going on with designated areas for food, clothes and just random shopping!

Gosh. You even find a radio station located inside the train station!

And Indian Food! *snickers*

And I got myself an issue of Myojo here!
